While attending IEP meetings across her career, she watched parents and guardians struggle to understand the complex IEP process, behavior plans, least restrictive environment, inclusion, what questions to ask, and what services were available for their child. Through their struggles, Colleen changed focus from a school clinician to join the parent side of the IEP table, in order to amplify their valuable voice and help them be comfortable and confident members of their IEP teams. Colleen's passions are: inclusion advocacy, secondary transition planning services and meaningful outcomes advocacy, parent education, and helping to problem solve IEP goals that aren't making sufficient IEP progress. Colleen works with parents to help train, support, advocate, encourage, motivate and lift up parents in the special needs community so their voices are heard. Colleen has a wide range of knowledge and experience in educational and behavioral supports.
Colleen advocates for meaningful participation, inclusion, independence, and belonging. Colleen provides compassionate Educational Consultation. Whether a parent is very knowledgeable about IEPs or new to the IEP process, Colleen advocates that parents should never go through the complex IEP process alone!
